Why I Love It
Knuffle Bunny holds up, nearly twenty (!) years after its publication. Willems was a writer on Sesame Street and it shows: his illustrations are a melding of hand-drawn ink sketches over digital photographs. The story of Trixie’s lovey, Knuffle Bunny, being left at a laundromat is high stakes and one of the most accurate depictions of parenthood you’ll find in a picture book (communication difficulties with a preverbal child, a child who goes “boneless”).
